Why should my car be serviced?
A car, in its simplest form, is a machine. As we all know, machines are prone to malfunctioning and often need repairs at some point in their life. Having your car serviced is one of the many ways to keep these repairs down to a bare minimum and prolong the life of your vehicle.
When should my car be serviced?
When you should have your service carried out depends on the age and service schedule your car is due. This either goes by age or mileage - for most makes of vehicle your car should be serviced at least once a year regardless of mileage. Depending on your particular vehicle and its service schedule depends on what your vehicle will be due to have replaced.
What happens in a service?
When a service is carried out, a full inspection is made of your vehicle including brakes, tyres, all major components underneath the car and the cars general health. The engine oil and oil filter will be changed, as well as other filters on the car such as the air filter, pollen filter or fuel filter if they are due. For the age of the vehicle your service may also include having the spark plugs replaced, a brake fluid change, coolant fluid change and an air-con regas if your car is fitted with air-con. If your car needs any other repairs we will always make a note and advise you as to the best way to care for your car.
Will having my service carried out by a non main-dealer affect my warranty?
No. In 2003 government passed legislation called "Block Exemption" this means that an independent garage can now carry out your car service, so that the warranty is still protected - this now means you no longer need to use a main dealer to do your car service.
At D&A Autos we use either GENUINE car parts of OE (Original Equipment) as standard, making sure your warranty is protected at all times.
Main dealers may try and influence your decision to stay with them, but the reality is that a car service or car repair with us at D&A Autos is just as good, if not better and is always likely to be up to 50% cheaper than what a main dealer charges.
In most cases, main dealers and independent garages use the same car part suppliers in the UK, so any misleading comments by a main dealer trying to entice you into staying with them are not really warranted - STOP ! dont getting ripped off by main dealers, because all our car parts are GENUINE approved car parts of OE standard.
You have the freedom of choosing whichever garage you wish to carry out your service, which can save you a lot of money in the long run. At D&A Autos we carry out your service to the highest grade possible, and if your car is still under manufacture warranty we will ensure we use main dealer parts and your vehicle will be cared for and repaired at a main-dealer standard.
